Message from Mr. Monachino and Newsletter (March 14, 2024)

SCC Community:

It is with mixed emotions that I announce that this will be my final year as principal at SCC. With my family experiencing the joy of a fourth child in a few weeks, I have done a lot of reflection & started to think about the next steps in my life. With this in mind, I will be transferring to St. James to serve as their principal starting July 1, 2024. I want to thank Mrs. Caezza for her leadership & guidance in discussing all the options with me.

Please accept my heartfelt gratitude for all the members of our school community & their support in my time at SCC. I am very proud of the work that we have accomplished in the last two years, most importantly, the increased role of faith with our class retreats, a service hour requirement, & our strong commitment to prayer each day in the chapel.

I want to thank especially the faculty & staff at SCC. They are dedicated educators who clearly were called by God to be part of this community. Leaving them is very difficult! Please continue to support them!

Of course I will miss our students. Seeing them every day & speaking with them is the best part of the job for any principal. We are blessed to have such wonderful students with a world of talent that will certainly, to borrow a phrase from St. Ignatius of Loyola, “Light the world on fire” with hard work, passion, & faith.

We still have much to do this year & rest assured, outside of a few weeks paternity leave, my full attention is on SCC. I look forward to seeing all that we will do this year!

Please continue to keep my family in your prayers.

God Bless You, Glob Bless, Seton Catholic Central, & God Bless the Catholic Schools of Broome County

Mr. Patrick Monachino
