Early Childhood Education

About-the-Programs-image

About the Programs

Early childhood education is an integral part of Catholic education at Catholic Schools of Broome County. We recognize that each child is made in the image and likeness of God. In partnership with families, we focus on the spiritual, social and academic needs of the young child. Our early childhood classrooms are designed to provide a stimulating atmosphere of discovery, exploration and creativity. Through individual, small group and whole group activities, students have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of learning experiences. We will provide your child with developmentally and age appropriate programs in a Christ-centered environment. While learning may look like child’s play here, the play is orchestrated by our skilled teachers with a serious goal: the steady development of the social, emotional and intellectual skills that young children need to succeed.

About The Pre-k Programs

Our Preschool Classes and transitional Kindergartens work hand-in-hand to enhance learning and to better prepare each child for a positive academic foundation ensuring individual successes.

We do this by providing an atmosphere of nurturing and acceptance in a safe and secure environment. We focus on a child-centered, developmentally appropriate classroom that works in conjunction with the teacher-directed group activities.

Building children’s self-esteem cannot be underestimated. We individualize our educational programs. They are designed to meet the specific needs of each child. We celebrate multiculturalism, diversity and our own uniqueness. We are flexible. Acting on teachable moments is the key to providing the building blocks for tomorrow.

If we are to truly value our children, we must value their families. Parents should be recognized as experts on their own children. We have an open-door policy and encourage parental input.

Immunizations

border-shape-img

Grade 6 Requirement

New York State has an immunization requirement for students entering 6th grade.

Because the requirement is a Public Health Law all students must have the following:
As of January 2007, all students entering 6th grade must have a Tdap. Students who are 10 years of age will not need to receive the Tdap until they are 11 years of age. After their 11th birthday, a 14-day grace period is granted for the completion of the immunization.

To comply with the New York State law, you must provide written documentation from your health care provider to the School Nurse by the first week of September or your child will risk exclusion from school. If your provider would like to fax proof of the Tdap immunization, they may fax it to the school.

Continuous Enrollment

border-shape-img

Welcome Back To The Catholic Schools Of Broome County

The move to FACTS Tuition allows for Continuous Enrollment. Your child(ren) will be automatically enrolled for the following school year, except in instances where a student may not be allowed to return, including unpaid tuition balances. There is nothing that families will need to do on their end if their child(ren) are returning. However, we do ask that you notify your school if there are any updates to your demographic information such as phone numbers or addresses. The payment plan currently in place will also be rolled forward. Please contact Jason Giblin at 607-723-1547 if you want to make any changes to your payment plan.

As a reminder, you must re-apply for Tuition Assistance each year online and the information can be found on our tuition page.

If you have a child attending Seton Catholic Central, the additional separate SCC Scholarship application and information sheet is made available in November of each year when the tuition assistance portal opens.

If a family is seeking any level of financial assistance, the FACTS tuition assistance application must be completed by February 15th. Also, you may not just turn in the separate SCC scholarship application without the FACTS application or expect to receive assistance from the Catholic Schools Broome County or individual school without completing the FACTS application.

Please contact The Office of Admissions with any questions.
