From the President

Dear Students and Parents:

I am excited to assume the role of President of the Catholic Schools for Broome County. As I begin my service to the CSBC, I am acutely aware of how fortunate we are to have such amazing students, faculty and parents as part of our System. Together as a family community, we work to achieve academic excellence, provide safe, caring and supportive learning environments and practice the Catholic faith. We welcome students of all backgrounds and faiths to join this wonderful community.

In my interactions with CSBC students, faculty and parents, I have met so many dedicated and caring individuals who provide passionate testimonials about the value and significance of a Catholic School education. Personally, I have received many benefits through my Catholic school experiences. As a young child I learned to be grateful for all that we have been given in life and to know that God is always there to help with any difficulties we might experience. This strong foundation is an irreplaceable asset in dealing with the challenges we all face in our daily lives. I learned to have compassion for others and to see everyone as a child of God which helps in understanding and getting along well with others. Based on this belief, I have always tried to treat everyone I encounter fairly and compassionately. I also learned from my Catholic upbringing to be altruistic and helpful to those in need following our commitment to the Catholic teachings of social justice.

In addition to all of the spiritual benefits of a Catholic school education, we celebrate numerous student achievements. In the 2016-2017 academic year, our students achieved the following:

  • Girls basketball state, federation, regional, league, and sectional championships
  • Baseball regional and sectional championships
  • Women’s tennis league championship
  • Golf sectional championship
  • 12 NYSPHSAA scholar-athletic teams
  • Mathletes regional championship
  • Performing Arts National competition awards
  • Odyssey of the Mind regional and state championships and world championship participants
  • Science Olympiad regional finalists
  • Mock Trial county and regional championship
  • College attendance rate: 100% for 2017 graduating class

Thank you to all for your involvement and support. Please join me in prayer as I begin my service to the CSBC in my role as President.

Dr. Elizabeth Carter
